Breakfast in Sanur is not merely a meal. It is often a three-hour lifestyle choice involving coffee, a beach walk, one pastry you planned to share and a second pastry nobody needs to discuss.
The best Sanur cafés range from simple beachfront tables to air-conditioned bakeries and modern brunch spots. These are the places we have enjoyed and would put on a holiday list.
The Beach Café is a lovely pick when your breakfast brief is “feed me, but also show me the sea.” We have particularly enjoyed the eggs Benedict. The beachfront atmosphere turns a normal breakfast into an occasion without making it formal.
Near Sindhu Beach, Luhtu’s is a Sanur classic for fresh bread, sandwiches, coffee and cakes. It is the sort of place where you can arrive for breakfast and somehow still be discussing lunch an hour later.
Daily Baguette on Jalan Danau Tamblingan is one of our dependable stops for coffee, breakfast, baguettes, rolls and a dangerously persuasive dessert cabinet. There is also a Daily Baguette at Icon Bali, handy when shopping creates a cake emergency.
Batujimbar is comfortable, air-conditioned and perfect for watching Sanur life pass by. The pineapple and walnut carrot cake is one of my favourites. Is cake technically breakfast? I believe holidays operate under a more flexible constitution.
On Jalan Danau Poso, From Here offered a build-your-own breakfast when we visited, allowing guests to choose from proteins, bakery items, produce, dips and sweets. The bakery selection and koi-pond outlook made it a different and enjoyable morning option. Check the current menu and dietary choices before visiting.
Gardenia is one of our regular choices for a straightforward, delicious breakfast or lunch. It is friendly, comfortable and ideal for mixed groups who cannot agree whether they want eggs, toast, curry or cake.
Brasserie Republic has a relaxed European feel and is better suited to a slow breakfast or brunch than a rushed bite. It is also a favourite for lunch, so lingering is entirely defensible.
For fresh salads, bowls and health-conscious choices, Dapur Deli and Bali Sabi are worth exploring. We have previously found useful vegan and gluten-free options, but always confirm current ingredients and cross-contamination processes if you have a medical dietary requirement.
Start with sunrise on the beach. Walk or cycle part of the waterfront path. Choose breakfast based on your mood rather than an internet ranking. Then do absolutely nothing urgent before lunch.
If you are travelling as a family or group, alternate café mornings with breakfast at your villa. It keeps the budget sensible and allows the early risers, late sleepers and people who become unreasonable before coffee to coexist peacefully.
Sanur Soul Villa 1 has a fully equipped Western kitchen, coffee facilities, filtered water throughout and a spacious indoor dining area. The butler’s pantry includes a washer, dryer and extra drinks fridge—because eight people produce an astonishing amount of laundry and require a surprisingly serious beverage strategy.
The villa is close to southern Sanur cafés and restaurants, so you can choose between cooking together, arranging help, ordering in or wandering out for brunch.
Where can I have beachfront breakfast in Sanur? The Beach Café and Luhtu’s are two favourites, while many hotels and beachfront venues also serve breakfast. Check current hours.
Does Sanur have good coffee? Yes. Sanur has everything from local coffee shops to modern cafés and European-style bakeries.
Can I find gluten-free breakfast in Sanur? Usually, but standards and cross-contamination controls vary. Speak directly with staff and never rely only on an old menu or social-media post.
